Miscellaneous
- If you are here, you probably know the web page for
this course is dynamic.ou.edu
- Be sure I have a working email address
for you!
- Remember, YOU
MUST be enrolled in one of the lab sections; see class schedule
-
Please carefully read the Syllabus, and look over
the Outline; note test dates and times and PUT THEM IN
YOUR CALENDAR
- You are responsible for reading
and understanding the
OU Academic Code
- There is NO text book
for lecture; the material is in the on-line notes and
videos
-
Students must sign up for a co-requisite "live"
laboratory section. See
On-Line Schedule Planner for latest information. These will be listed as
something like "Geol 1104 Lab Section 011:
[Day, Time] Room [M0224 or M0222]
SEC
-
Lab counts for 25% of your grade in Geol1104. I have nothing to do with the
labs, but if you have a problem you can't work out with your Teaching Assistant
(TA), email me ( jahern@ou.edu ) and I'll see
what I can do.
-
You must have a lab book. Students need to buy lab book before coming to
the first lab. The lab book for GEOL 1104 is new as of Fall semester, 2007; it should be available at
the main bookstore, and it may also be available other places.
-
There are no labs the first week of classes.
-
If you ever miss a lab (don't!), contact your TA immediately about
possibly making it up. This presupposes that you get a phone number or
email for your TA, or both. The reason you need to act fast is because the
lab materials for each week are put away at the end of the week, so the next
week's lab materials can be put out.
In case you want to major in Geology or Geophysics
- Although GEOL 1104 is for non-majors, and is a bit
simplified from GEOL 1114, which is for majors, you may be able to
substitute 1104 for 1114 if you decide to major; See Donna Mullins in Room 810 SEC if you have
questions.
